This piece was made during a one-week residency at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado, January 2008. Each sound is physically created by a different kinetic mechanism; no recorded sounds are used. The timing of the mechanisms is controlled by an Arduino microprocessor and a custom Arduino-Midi translator (many thanks Ali Momeni). The piece can play back a preset composition (as shown in the video), or can be played in real time like a musical instrument.
